PENALTY SAVE THE KEY
Jim Magilton said the game swung on Neil Alexander's penalty save after admitting his side were below their best in the derby win over Colchester.
Clive Platt gave the Us a first-half lead and Mark Yeates had the chance to make it two from the penalty spot midway through the second period but saw his spot-kick palmed away by the Town 'keeper.
Blues responded with a Jon Walters equaliser and goals from Liam Trotter, his first for the Club and Danny Haynes gave Town the win.
"The penalty save was the key moment in the game without a doubt," Jim told Ipswich World.
"They came with a game plan and it was working and full credit to them for that. We were struggling to break them down but it was a great save from Neil and it lifted the players and the crowd.
"I'll take the win even though we weren't at our best and I can't fault the players for their character they showed.
"I didn't think it was a penalty and after seeing the referee make the decision, I expected Neil to be sent-off. I said that to the fourth official. If he judged it a penalty and with Neil the last man, how comes he didn't send my player off.
"I think there was doubt in the referee's mind about the kick so he thought he would rectify it by keeping Neil on the park."
Jim was also delighted to see Liam Trotter mark him home debut with a goal and added: "He has deserved his opportunity and he has a nice habit of scoring goals. I'm delighted for him.
"Now the challenge is there for him to move on and stake a claim for a place in the side."
