Shane Supple has been pulled out of the Republic of Ireland U21 squad after sustaining a shoulder injury.

The 'keeper was named in Don Givens' squad for the game against Sweden later this week - his first call-up at U21 level - but will now stay behind and receive treatment at Town's training ground.

"Shane has developed a problem with his shoulder and we have had to pull him out of the squad," Town's physio Matt Byard told the Club website.

"It's disappointing for him because he was looking forward to going away with the Republic but it's important for him and us that we investigate what the injury is and act on it."

Owen Garvan and Billy Clarke are also in the Irish squad for the Sweden game as well as being named in the party for the match against England next week.
