Dean Bowditch will begin his rehabilitation next week following his groin operation.

The 21-year-old striker underwent surgery in June after being hindered by a groin problem since the turn of the year.

He played only a couple of reserve team games through the closing months of the campaign and missed out on a second loan spell at Brighton because of the injury.

Dean has been working under the guidance of leading specialist Per Holmich in Copenhagen with a decision taken to operate after close analysis of his progress.

"The surgery has gone well and has certainly moved him further down the line on the road to recovery," Town physio Matt Byard told the Club website.

"We are looking at him beginning his rehabilitation next week while the rest of the squad are in Loughborough.

"It will be gentle work, easing him back into things and his progress will be monitored daily."

With the Championship kick-off still six weeks away, Town are hopeful that Dean will take a full part in the latter stages of pre-season.
