Town boss Jim Magilton is expecting a difficult encounter when Blues travel to MK Dons in the First Round of the Carling Cup.

The game will take place at the Stadium: mk on the week beginning August 13.

Dons knocked out Colchester and Barnsley in the competition last season before losing out to Tottenham.

They were also beaten at the Semi-Final stage of the League Two Play-Offs, the last game of Martin Allen's stay as boss before he moved on to take command at Leicester.

"We would rather have been at home, obviously," Jim told Ipswich World.

"It's a tricky tie. They will be raring to go and looking to take a scalp from a higher division.

"I'm sure they will be fired up and we will have to match their desire and then look to make our ability on the ball count."
