Jimmy Juan looked to have sent Town on the way to three points with a fantastic free-kick from 25 yards but Blades left with a draw after Danny Webber's equaliser.

Juan curled a sublime free-kick past Paddy Kenny and into the roof of the net off the underside of the bar early in the second-half and Town should have gone two up when Danny Haynes was through on goal but slid the ball past the wrong side of the post.

Sheffield's equaliser came 13 minutes from time, Webber rounding Shane Supple and seeing his shot find the net as Scott Barron and Richard Naylor tried to clear off the line.

Alan Lee was handed his Town debut, with Darren Currie supporting him in attack, Haynes dropping to the bench.

Blues started the game brightly with Lee brought down by Chris Morgan, Currie's free-kick cleared by the Blades' defence for a corner. Jason De Vos then causing Paddy Kenny to smother the ball amid a flurry of feet.

Neat play down the Sheffield right saw Danny Webber released but his cross evaded Neil Shipperley, while at the other end Barron hooked a cross just wide of Kenny's goal.

Lee spun away from Morgan and his cross was arrowing for Ian Westlake before Leigh Bromby stuck out his right foot to clear.

Phil Jagielka wasted a cross when in space on the left side of Town's box, Chris Armstrong fired wide then set up Paul Ifill whose shot was cleared off the line by De Vos.

Gavin Williams was in the right place to clear from inside the six yard box as Sheffield held the slight edge, with a David Unsworth corner clawed off the line by Shane Supple.

Barron's 40 yard run down the Town left lifted the crowd, his cross taken by Kenny. Unsworth then tested Supple with a rasping drive from 25 yards, the Town 'keeper tipping his shot over the bar.

Westlake's overhead kick after Lee had won a header in the Sheffield box brought an even first-half to a close.

Supple gathered superbly from Unsworth's corner, then Currie flashed a shot straight at Kenny from 25 yards as the second-half opened brightly.

It was lit up on 54 minutes with Juan's wonderful free-kick after Westlake had been fouled, the midfielder replaced by Haynes before the kick was taken.

Owen Garvan's cross was cleared by Bromby, then Currie tested Kenny from distance as Blues looked for a second goal and it should have come midway through the half, Haynes taking advantage of a missed header and going in on goal but he rushed his shot wide of Kenny's goal.

Shipperley headed over from Michael Tonge's cross as the game before Sheffield levelled on 76 minutes, Tonge sending Webber through on goal, his shot evading two defenders on the line.

Juan followed Morgan into referee Penton's book for a foul, with Webber then pulling up with a hamstring injury.

Steve Kabba could have won it for Blades with the last kick of the game, his shot going inches wide of the far post in a game where a point each was a fair result.

Town: Supple, Wilnis, De Vos, Naylor, Barron (Sito 86), Juan, Garvan (Magilton 83), Williams, Westlake (Haynes 54), Currie, Lee. Subs not used: Price, Richards. Booked: Juan.
