Goals from Jay McEveley, Jimmy Juan and Matt Richards gave Town a first win in six games.

Jay opened the scoring midway through the first half with his first goal for the Club, driving a low shot into the net from 18 yards after Plymouth had failed to clear a corner.

Juan added a second seven minutes later with a diving header at the far post following another corner before the Pilgrims reduced the arrears through a brilliant free-kick from Akos Buzsaky early in the second-half.

Richards restored Town's advantage just before the hour though, scoring for the second successive game, this time from the penalty spot after Nicky Forster had been brought down by 'keeper Romain Larrieu.

Kevin Horlock, Forster, Darren Currie and McEveley all returned to the starting line-up, Jim Magilton, Dean McDonald and Fabian Wilnis making way from the team that drew at Derby.

Matt - spot on

Richards was close to adding to his goal at Pride Park with a strike on three minutes that seemed destined for the corner of the net until Forster inadvertently got in the way only two yards from the line.

Tony Capaldi curled a free-kick over the bar at the other end, then a Paul Connolly cross was headed straight at Lewis Price by Micky Evans.

Hungarian international Buzsaky carried the main threat for the visitors and his shot was deflected for a corner, Paul Wotton sending a header at Price from Capaldi's flag kick.

McEveley had to be alert to prevent Nick Chadwick making progress in the Town box, then Horlock brought a smart save from Larrieu at his near post before Blues opened the scoring on 22 minutes, McEveley firing in from the edge of the box after a corner had only been partially cleared by Larrieu.

Just past the half hour Blues doubled the advantage, Currie's corner flicked on by Jason De Vos and Juan lunged forward to head in.

Buzsaky showed another illustration of his undoubted talent with a run and shot that Price gathered at the second attempt.

The Welsh U21 international did well to punch clear from Evans' challenge, while on the stroke of half-time the Town 'keeper touched Buzsaky's corner onto the bar.

Forster went down in the box inside the first minute of the second-half but referee Atkinson waved away the Blues appeals.

Four minutes later Plymouth were back in the game, Horlock's foul on David Norris gave the visitors a free-kick 25 yards out and Buzsaky curled an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

Richards restored Town's two goal advantage just before the hour mark, Forster going down under the challenge of Larrieu after a game of pinball on the edge of the Pilgrims' box.

Referee Atkinson pointed to the penalty spot and booked Paul Connolly for his heated protests, Richards doing the rest from 12 yards.

Chadwick spun off Richard Naylor well but fired into the North Stand, who then rose to salute the return of Ian Westlake after two months out with ankle ligament damage, Richards making way.

Norris fired across goal as Tony Pulis' side pushed forward looking for a way back into the game, Horlock then booked for a foul on Buzsaky, his fifth yellow card of the season.

Town held on to take the points comfortably enough in the end with a win that moves the Club up the Championship table.

Goals from Jay McEveley, his first for the Club, Jimmy Juan and Matt Richards gave Town a first win in six games.
